Factor 55 FlatLink Black

Eliminate the conventional winch hook and replace it with a safer and stronger FlatLink shackle thimble and D-ring. The FlatLink shackle mount is the Industry’s first folding shackle mount for recovery winches. With less than 1.75 inches of thickness, the Flatlink will work with all roller fairlead license plate mounting brackets.

Conventional winch hooks can cut and fray recovery straps and often allow strap ends to escape during momentary slack cycles of a typical winching recovery. Screw pin shackles do not allow strap loops to escape due to the secure screw pin attachment. The FlatLink does not require splicing and is compatible with steel cables or synthetic ropes up to 3/8 inches in diameter. The cable eye is retained in the FlatLink by a 5/8 inch diameter grade 5 steel double shear pin and internal snap ring. It is installed easily in minutes. The EPDM Rubber Guards protect alloy fairleads and are securely attached to the FlatLink with 4 barbed tips. The FlatLink stows neatly against either roller or Hawse type fairleads and is designed to be used with common 3/4 inch shackles. MADE IN THE USA, the FlatLink is constructed of 6000 series billet aluminum and is anodized/powder coated in 5 different colors.

Factor 55 FlatLink E Gray

Factor 55 FlatLink E Gray

The FlatLink E (Expert) is a variation of our popular foldable standard FlatLink winch shackle mount. The FlatLink E provides a means to eliminate the conventional winch hook and replace it with a safer and more secure screw pin shackle resulting in a CLOSED SYSTEM WINCHING operation. The large pear shaped shackle mounting hole allows for attachment to either the pin or bow end of common screw pin shackles, as well as common OEM recovery points. This makes the new FlatLink E more versatile than the current FlatLink design, but it also adds the possibility of a dangerous shackle side loading condition (See Picture), especially during momentary slack conditions. A shackle side loading condition is not possible with our standard FlatLink shackle mount due to the shackle pin mounting constraint. For the recreational off roader we highly recommend the safer standard FlatLink product, not the FlatLink E. This way the winch operator does not have to monitor whether the shackle may have shifted and rotated in the recovery tackle. The FlatLink E is only available in the Military Specification Anodizing (Mil-A-8625 F Type III) hard anodized gray finish.

Conventional winch hooks can cut and fray recovery straps and often allow strap ends to escape during momentary slack cycles of a typical winching recovery. Screw pin shackles do not allow strap loops to escape due to their secure screw pin attachment. The FlatLink E does not require splicing and is compatible with steel cables or synthetic ropes up to 3/8 inches in diameter. The cable eye is retained in the FlatLink E by a 5/8 inch diameter 6Al4V Titanium double shear pin and internal snap ring. Installation takes only minutes. The EPDM Rubber Guards protect alloy fairleads and are securely attached to the FlatLink E with 4 barbed tips each. The FlatLink E stows neatly against either roller or Hawse type fairleads and is designed to be used with common 3/4 inch shackles.

Factor 55 Hawse Fairlead 1.5in Thick

Factor 55 Hawse Fairlead 1.5in Thick

Factor 55 introduces a new line of Aluminum Hawse Fairleads. The 1.0 and 1.5 fairleads are CNC machined from 1 and 1.5 inch thick USA 6000 series aluminum bar. The industry standard fairlead thickness is .75 inches thick. The thicker aluminum bar results in a larger outer fillet radius for the synthetic rope to slide against. This results in less stress on the rope fibers during high angular pulls, increasing the life of your synthetic rope. The 1.0 and 1.5 fairleads are the industry’s first Hawse fairleads compatible with larger ½ inch diameter rope tube thimbles. The rope slot height opening is taller to allow the larger ½” tube thimbles to pass through. There is also a machined outer corner chamfer to reduce rope stress for those than plan on using the winch as a front suspension “suck down” device. These fairleads come in a durable MIL-A-8625F TYPE III gun metal gray hard anodized finish with a laser engraved logo.

For synthetic winch rope only.

Factor 55 ProLink Black

Factor 55 ProLink Black

Replace conventional winch hooks with the new safer, stronger, and smarter Factor 55 ProLink shackle mount.

Factor 55 introduces the new ProLink shackle mount for winch cables and synthetic ropes. Engineered and machined in the USA from lightweight billet 6061 aluminum, the ProLink provides a safe means to easily attach a standard 3/4″ screw pin shackle to existing winch cable and rope eyes The cable or rope eye is captured into the body of the ProLink by a removable oversized 5/8″ double shear pin. The front of the ProLink provides the precision shackle mounting hole and massive 1.2″ thick mounting tab. The ProLink is compatible with both Hawse and Roller fairleads and snugs neatly against both versions.

The advantages of winching with a screw pin shackle over a conventional winch hook are many:

    • Screw pin shackles are up to 5X stronger than conventional winch hooks
    • Conventional hooks are too small to safely fit both ends of a recovery strap
    • Recover straps cannot slip out of a shackle like they can with hooks
    • Hook safety latches are not rated for loads and can tear recovery straps
    • Conventional hook surfaces add higher stresses to recovery strap fibers, resulting in decreased strap ratings
    • Shackles can be quickly removed and stowed away until needed for winching.
    • Hooks do not cinch neatly against fairleads and are prone to rattling and loosening
    • Conventional winch hooks are designed for chains – not commonly used recovery straps
    • Engineered, Tested, and Made in USA — Patent Pending
    • Stress analyzed using COSMOS FEA and destructively tested for confirmation
    • Billet construction — precision machined from 6061-T6 Kaiser Aluminum round bar
    • 16,000 pound max load rating
    • Fits all steel cables and synthetic ropes up to 3/8″ in diameter
    • Fits eyes equipped with standard or tube thimbles to 3/8 inch diameters
    • 1.2 inch shackle tab thickness virtually eliminates “shackle rattle”
    • 5/8 inch diameter 6Al-4V titanium double shear pin
    • Optional EPDM “Rubber Guard” protects alloy Hawse fairleads — rubber barb attachment
    • Can be installed and removed in minutes — simple snap ring removal

ProLink Bridle

The ProLink Bridle provides winch owners with a means to replace the conventional winch hook with a safer and stronger screw pin shackle/D-ring. The ProLink Bridle is a multiple shackle mount product designed for winch cables. The ProLink Bridle is a specialized commercial product designed primarily for the towing industry. The three individual shackle mounting holes allow the winch operator to mount fixed length bridle links to the outside positioned holes for common bridle towing, as well as a single centered shackle mounting point for a conventional single shackle recovery point. Dedicated shackle mounting points prevent dangerous shackle side loading conditions due to the pivoting feature of the shackle pin mounting hole. This allows for Closed System Winching techniques to be applied. For commercial high repeating bridle towing, dedicated self centering shackles result in a safer means to bridle tow. This ProLink Bridle operation is similar to fish plate towing used in the ship towing industry where boat yaw is undesirable. Like all models in the ProLink family, the ProLink Bridle is engineered and made in the USA from 6000 series billet aluminum and is equipped with a 6Al-4V titanium double shear pin. The ProLink Bridle is only available in the Military Specification Anodizing (Mil-A-8625 F Type III) hard anodized gray finish.

Factor 55 ProLink XTV ATV and UTV Gray

Shackle/D-ring mount for UTV and ATV winch lines

The ProLink XTV allows UTV and ATV winch owners to replace the conventional winch hook with a safer and stronger shackle/D-Ring. Winch hooks can cut and fray recovery straps and often allow strap ends to escape during typical loose/tight cycles of a winching recovery. Screw pin shackles do not allow strap loops to escape due to the secure screw pin attachment. The ProLink XTV does not require splicing and is compatible with steel cables or synthetic ropes up to 5/16 inches. The cable eye is retained in the ProLink XTV by a 7/16 inch diameter titanium double shear pin and internal snap ring. It is easily installed in minutes. The EPDM Rubber Guard protects alloy fairleads and is securely attached to the ProLink XTV with 4 barbed tips.

Factor 55 Replacement ProLink Rubber Guard

Factor 55 Replacement ProLink Rubber Guard

The Rubber Guard is a synthetic rubber gasket that separates the ProLink and the fairlead by a high durometer rubber material. The Rubber Guard feature was designed into the ProLink from the beginning. 8 Precision machined pockets in the back of the ProLink accept the barbs of the Rubber Guard. The unique ribbed design of the barbs allow for multiple installation and removal cycles without destroying the barbs.

Once installed, the Rubber Guard will not come loose and will protect both Hawse and Roller fairleads from scratching.

Is it possible to over engineer a seemingly simple rubber part ? We did – that’s why it works.

  • Made of pure high durometer EPDM rubber
  • Scratch protection for alloy and roller fairleads
  • Secure fit with 8 barbed rubber tips

Why EPDM rubber and not polyurethane?

Poly products crack easily, plain and simple.

EPDM is a synthetic rubber that has superior resistance to aging, cracking, UV, ozone and oxygen exposure. It is also extremely resilient and flexible.

Although the cost to manufacture products from EPDM material is considerably higher than urethane, at Factor 55 believe that the choice to use EPDM has resulted in a longer lasting and superior engineered product.

Instructions:

Place the ProLink Rubber Guard barbs up on a flat surface. Moisten the barbs with soapy water or glass cleaner and place the ProLink on top of the Rubber Guard carefully aligning the barbs to the mating holes. Apply firm uniform pressure until all barbs have engaged into holes.

SAFETY FIRST – Always follow safe winching guidelines recommended by your winch manufacturer.

Factor 55 Shorty Strap II 3ft x 2in

Factor 55 Shorty Strap II 3ft x 2in

SHORTY STRAP DESCRIPTION

At Factor 55 we have been using a version of our custom ultra short flat straps for years to assist in a variety of useful vehicle recovery applications. These short straps are not constructed like typical recovery/snatch straps. The Shorty Straps are not designed to store energy from stretch. They are designed to serve as a versatile short soft link to attach to vehicles and are constructed of an ultra low stretch (low energy storage) polyester, not high stretch nylon like typical snatch straps. The applications vary from easily attaching to vehicles that are not equipped with recovery points, to using your winch and Shorty Strap to field repair/straighten bent steering components like tie rods and drag links. The inherit flat shape of the straps prevent the straps from rolling and twisting when attached to tubular shapes like bumper stingers, steering components, and nerf bars. We prefer flat straps over round ropes for this reason.

Even polyester webbing materials retain a small element of material stretch and since the total energy stored is a function of the % of stretch and the overall length of the strap, we have designed the strap to be as short as possible but still retain the necessary webbing overlap and stitch count necessary for the rated loads. The overall length of the Shorty Straps is 3 feet, and this is reduced to only 1.5 feet long when used in the common basket configuration. Low stretch/energy storage equates to less recoil energy during a possible component failure.

These straps are manufactured in the USA to Factor 55 specifications by the Certified Sling Corporation, the parent company to the well known Bubba Rope Company.
